Imagine this… You know just how exciting it is to take your K9 companion with you hiking in the dessert. You’ve taken that beautiful yellow Lab on countless hikes and adventures. You laugh as he wags his whole body when you tell him he can jump up in the SUV and spend time adventuring with you.
You set up your gear carefully, item by item, knowing that lack of preparation in that dessert heat can potentially mean putting your life (or your buddy’s) in danger. You unzip your backpack and begin carefully filling it with the proper survival equipment. Since the humidity levels in Nevada can drop as low as 5%, you and he have to prepare for the risks of dehydration. You fill your backpack-style hydration pack and your best friend’s doggie canteen and his water supply.
You’ve previously spent your time researching and searching for the top of the line safety equipment available to you. You’re not willing to compromise by buying low quality Chinese products. Not when your life is on the line! Knowing your dog’s life is every bit as important to you as your own, you were not willing to compromise on his safety gear either. But everywhere you’ve looked you’ve found inferior first aid kits that are not much more that band aids and aspirin. Now what? Wait a minute. Didn’t one of your hiking buddies tell you about an emergency kit his brother, who’s a member of his county’s K9 Search and Rescue team carries with him on every mission? You decide to give him a call.
He tells you it is sold by a company called K9 Field Kits. You Google it and when you click on the site you find not only a field kit, but several varieties of kits, all designed to meet specific needs. Many of the kits can even include a patented ultra light-weight, foldable pet stretcher! They also include a canine electrolyte paste that you place on your dog’s tongue for emergency administration when your dog is too far from medical care, yet suffers from dehydration. You carry Gatorade for yourself, but for your dog? Further examination of the contents of this kit shows a huge number of items that fit into such a small, light-weight field case that are far more useful and advanced than anything you’ve seen. Time to order.
While perusing the website, you notice a tab that says “Adventure Gear“. Interesting – what could that be? You see the hands-free belt system to carry everything your dog needs on his adventure. Scrolling down a little further, you see a water filtration system that only weighs 3 oz.! Perfect for you and your dog. And of course, you want to be prepared in case your dog encounters a dreaded rattlesnake. Guess what, they have a snakebite kit, too! Now you are ready!
Always prepared, you know that you are not taking another trip into the dessert without making sure that goofy yellow monster that eats you out of house and home is as safe as you are!
